Agia Galini

The road leaves the airport perpendicular. When you have your back facing the airport you drive straight ahead.

After 300 meters a sign "New Road" on your right-hand shows direction Iraklio / Xania / Rethymno; you will now enter the dual carriage way. Drive on the right hand side of the road, watch your speed! (Greeks tend to use the right-hand side road verge to let faster cars pass by).

After approx. 3 km there are traffic lights. You will continue for another km or two when a sign on your right-hand side shows Moipes, this is the exit to Mires. At the end turn right again, you will now follow this curling road for the rest of your journey down south through the mountains (approx. 70 km).

Drive slowly through the mountain villages of Siva, Agia Varvara, Agii Deka to Mires.

Follow through Mires and continue on the way to Tymbaki, you will pass Phaistos on your left-hand side. Drive through the town of Tymbaki, you will see a sign on your right-hand side, just before Kokinos Pirgos, taking a right turn once again, through the steep mountainous hills, down to Agia Galini.

Mind you, drive slowly down the steep parts, use the strength of your motor spinning down in gear rather than using firm breaking. You will find a first exit on your left hand side, leading to the camping and other hotels. Passing the bridge, an other one on your right towards Rethymnon and finally you pass an exit on your right hand side going up the hill towards Melambes.

After a strong bend to the left you will enter the village of Agia Galini!
